Find Customers: Activating Benefit and Creating Vouchers

Activating Benefit and Creating Vouchers

After you have identified a Customer opportunity and are ready to move into the engagement, you now need to activate the benefit and create an EDPS voucher. There are two scenarios to consider:

  1. Your customer has not activated the benefit/created a voucher
  2. Your customer already activated the benefit or created a voucher

Regardless of which option you follow, make sure to obtain the Voucher ID specified in invitation email and the corporate email address of Packaged Service Contact. These are required to validate and reserve the voucher – necessary to commence the EDPS engagement process.

Voucher/Benefit Not Activated or Created

Packaged Services Benefits often go un-activated because procurement or legal are the parties typically involved in purchasing licenses and signing Volume Licensing agreements for customers. Upon execution of the agreement, information on how to activate these benefits is sent to procurement and legal rather than to the parties that use the benefits. What this means is that partners are in a unique position to be able to educate their customers about the existence of these benefits and activate them on the customer’s behalf.

  • Customers Activating Benefits & Creating Vouchers: In the event that the customer is unwilling to give you access to their information on the Microsoft Volume Licensing site, instruct your customers to view SA Benefit Activation and Training. The first section details how to create an MVSLS account and how to assign a Benefits Administrator. The second section outlines steps for the Benefits administrator to assign and create a voucher. For the second part, your Customer can also view the training video on how to create and assign a voucher.

Voucher/Benefit Activated and Created

When a Packaged Services voucher is activated in Microsoft Volume Licensing System (MVLS), this indicates to MVLS that the customer intends to receive a Deployment Planning Service from a Packaged Services Partner.  An invitation email is sent to the customer, specifically to the person specified in MVLS during the Packaged Service voucher activation process (known as the “Packaged Service Contact”).

Locate Voucher ID and Corporate Email Address

You must obtain the Voucher ID specified in invitation email and the corporate email address of Packaged Service Contact. These are required to validate and reserve the voucher – necessary to commence the EDPS engagement process.
